There are 18 different Englishes according to Microsoft Word. So when we teach English, which one do we teach? Can we teach two, or three or even more at the same time?
Of course we can though we might not want to. The real challenge is knowing the differences that matter. This talk will look at some fun practical activities to use in class to sensitise (or is that sensitize?) our students to the quirks of the English language.
We will compare and contrast the cultural differences our students might encounter not only among native English speaking countries, but also in countries where English is spoken. |
