"Men in Trees" - Hochseilgarten Pflersch

On October 1 our class, the 2b sports went on a trip to an exciting high rope course. We met at eight o’clock and drove by bus to Pflersch, where we walked for some minutes into the forest. When we came to the meeting point the weather wasn’t ideal for climbing, it was cloudy and foggy and it had rained. Nobody was there at first, but then a German man came and presented himself: “Hi, I am Thomas, your instructor, and today I will teach you how to climb.” He told us about security and showed us the equipment: we put on our climbing harness and he explained to us how to use our carabiners when we climbed up the ladder.

"I'm thrilled...."
There were 17 stations, or activities, which were organised in a circle around tall woodbeams. Most of our class were very bold except for two or three, who suffered from vertigo because the highest point was 12 metres! The beginning was easy, but then it got really difficult. We didn’t only climb but we could also try canopying. You had to hold on to a rope and you crossed a large distance by swinging to another tree. This was really wacky!
After an hour we ate something and later we returned to the course. We climbed without a break around the course, but after more than two hours in the air we were exhausted. Only Franz Girtler tried all the stations, he was great and he really is a “climbing monkey”! At 11.30 we went for a walk to Gossensass and there we took the bus to Sterzing. We had a lot of fun and it was an unforgettable day.
